First of all, thank you so much for stopping by The Prepary. I created the site because I am incredibly passionate about helping people find jobs. I’ve spent the first 5 years of my career as a Recruiter in both the Finance & Fashion/Retail industries and continue to work in the HR field. I’ve hired people at all levels of their careers into a wide variety of departments, from Finance, to Marketing, to Design, and everything in between. Screening through tens of thousands of resumes, interviewing an enormous number of candidates, and making some really tough hiring decisions came with the territory. I’ve seen some candidates come in and really “nail it” and others knock themselves out of the running with a few simple mistakes.
I truly believe that the job search and interview process should be approached in the same way people prepare for a test. At the end of the day, you have to be qualified for a job… but after that, the other elements are 100% in your control. They are things you can work on, adjust, and really prep for.
There is a TON of information out there on this topic – what to do and what not to do. My goal is for the information on The Prepary to be current, accessible, and reliable job search advice (that is in touch with today’s hiring landscape). Most importantly, I’ll approach every topic through the lens of a recruiter, a perspective that I think is incredibly valuable to you as a job seeker. I hope you’ll follow along as you go through your job search, let me know what your big questions are, and become the best candidate you can possibly be. I also provide a number of one-on-one career consulting services which you can read about here.
Thank you for reading!
